Up to and including May 206.506 new passenger cars have been registered in the Netherlands this year

That is 11,5% more than in the same period last year.

Last month 36.952 new cars left the showrooms; a modest plus of 1,8 percent compared to May 2017, but the best May in terms of car sales since 2012. This is apparent from the official figures of BOVAG, RAI Association and RDC.

BOVAG and RAI Association expect a total of 2018 new passenger cars for the whole of 430.000, which would be just under 4 percent more than the 414.538 units last year. In any case, it is clear that the Dutch car market has calmed down more since the uniform addition rates of 22 percent for private use by business drivers (in addition to the 4 percent for fully electric cars). The sales lists are no longer dominated by a small number of models that benefit from a favorable addition.

  2. Renault: 3.304 (8,9 percent)
  3. Opel: 2.887 (7,8 percent)
  4. Peugeot: 2.813 (7,6 percent)
  5. KIA: 2.392 (6,5 percent)
