The Netherlands Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM) has launched an investigation into the pricing of used cars.

ACM has established that there is often a lack of clarity about the price stated in the advertisement and what exactly the consumer will receive for that price.

The basic principle is that the consumer should be able to take the car for the price stated in the advertisement.
Now it is often not clear whether the price includes all mandatory costs. Also, the information about the warranty is often not correct and complete.

ACM has therefore launched an investigation and will once again check whether the advertisements comply with legislation and regulations

By means of a letter they inform sellers of used cars about consumer rules that an advertisement for the sale of a used car must comply with. In order to avoid a fine, they advise checking advertisements and adjusting them where necessary.
